More of a good thing, 2019 Fall Flavours Festival adds extra week

With fans from North America and beyond asking for more, the Fall Flavours Festival has obliged, adding another week to the 2019 schedule which now runs just over five weeks, from August 30 to October 6, 2019.

The extra time to enjoy the 2019 Festival brings several new events, new chefs and the return of many favourite events and celebrity chefs. Sobeys has again stepped up as the Festival’s Title Sponsor, continuing its support for local products and Island farmers and fishers. The Signature Events, Taste of Coastal Communities and guest chef lineup were announced today at the Stratford Sobeys Extra store.

Atlantic Lottery continues its outstanding support for the Festival as sponsor for Taste of Coastal Communities. This series of seaside culinary experiences has grown to become a major feature of the Festival, each hosted by working chefs who are making a reputation for themselves on the national food scene. This year, Chef Justin Cournoyer of Actinolite Restaurant, Toronto will host Taste of Georgetown on September 5, Chef Ryan Crawford from Backhouse Restaurant, Niagara will host Taste of Tyne Valley on September 12 and Chef Justin Wolfe from Los Lobos London will host Taste of North Rustico on September 27. Each Taste of Coastal event showcases one of PEI’s unique coastal communities and the fresh local tastes from the nearby area. In addition to its sponsorship, Atlantic Lottery is also host to the Signature event, An Exclusive Evening at Red Shores, on September 11, hosted this year by Chef Ned Bell, founder of Chefs for Oceans, with Red Shores Executive Chef Andrew Smith.

Other new events in 2019 include the new Signature Event, Dinner with Antonio Park at the Montague Watefront on September 28 and Chef’s Island hosted by the PEI Chefs Association will return to the Delta on October 4. As well the new Fall Flavours Fire Up Fund will be providing support to two new private sector culinary events:  Supreme of the South Shore in Crapaud on September 14 and The Great PEI Bake-Off at Harmony House on September 28.

The Festival welcomes back popular chef hosts including Lynn Crawford, Danny Smiles, Corbin Tomaszeski, Antonio Park, Chuck Hughes, Todd Perrin and PEI’s own Michael Smith as Signature Event hosts. The full list of Signature Events and Chefs for 2019 includes:

The Festival also includes a series of Culinary Events – more intimate dining events, Culinary Adventures – hands on food experiences, and a special Restaurant Dining Program featuring the best from PEI’s talented local chefs. “The Fall Flavours Festival has firmly established itself as one of Canada’s premiere culinary celebrations featuring the very best local food and talent from Prince Edward Island. It’s also helped to further extend the fall season by attracting hundreds of off Island visitors to our province during what previously was a slower time of year for tourism operators. The addition of another week to the festival will allow even more people to enjoy and further extend the season.”
